Blood loss and shock in Dogs

My 13 year old dog has some sort of upper GI bleed and has been producing dark tarry (bloody) liquid stool for 4 days since we saw our vet and were informed that there was nothing more that could be done. He is still eating and drinking water but my question is... how long until he loses too much blood? At what point does shock develop in dogs?

I dont know the answer However you should see a different vet. Get another opinion. My vet would have given him a blood transfusion and did surgery to correct it...OR given me the option of putting the dog down..NO dog she die like that...Get a second opinion...

Agree with Blu.  Please don't let this dog suffer any longer!
I can't answer this either.

Oh, gracious.  Please don't let your furbaby suffer.  If he is that sick, and not enjoying life, please take him to the vet and let him go.  I'm sorry I can't answer your question.  And I am very sorry about your dog.  Blessings to you and your furbaby - Blu
