Cost of bladder stone removal in dogs

What is a reasonable charge for bladder stone surgery in a 16 lb. terrier/poodle mix in the LA/Orange County, CA area? I've been given a $1,000 estimate to include post-surgery stone ID, meds, etc.  I have already paid around $300 for office visit, blood work "health check", and x-ray.  My baby appears to have a marble sized struvite (spelling?) stone.

Looked through the link Karla referenced and cannot believe some of the charges and some of those were years ago.
I do know it can depend on the Vet and where you live.  My Vet has always been pretty reasonable over the many years I gave gone to him.  However, with the population growth here and him updating his clinic and equipment, etc, I now pay twice what I used to for teeth cleanings!  That being said, friends of mine in different areas of the country can pay 2 -3 times what I pay here.
You might want to call around to get some idea of what others might charge but make sure to ask what those fees include.
I have two kids in the San Diego area but don't know what their Vets might charge and that would probably be too far fir you to go.
I may be able to check about Vets a couple other friends use that may be closer to you but I bet the Vets in your area may be charging about the same.
