Dog drips pee while awake and asleep ?!?

Our dog is a 9 month spayed female pit that was housebroken until about 2 months ago. Enjoying our evenings on our back patio with her laying and playing at our feet, I noticed urine dripping from her. I mean really dripping from her. The puddles many times have gotten to 6 inches or better, and run off with the intended patio grade. She just lays there. If she happens to be asleep, I wake her up. When she sits up a little, it actually squirts out! EWE. We take her out to the yard, but she won't pee. Now she is starting to poop in the house. I just cleaned the carpets a month ago, and already it smells like a vets waiting room - you  know, the smell of accident "cover ups". Every other day I pick up her poop in the yard, and it is approx 3 lbs of poop. Seems ridiculous to me. Can it be overfeeding? Her poops in the house are not large, like she really had to go. Just little turds here and there. That does not seem like it was urgent to me. It happened again two days ago, we went out in our Jeep without her, leaving her in the house. It was 105 outside. I stepped in poop when I got home, and was not happy. Is she mad at us? VERY FRUSTRATED!

Sounds like you may have more than one thing going on here.  The urine leakage may be spay incontinence.  It's not as uncommon as people think.  There are medicines that can help a lot with this.  My pit has been on Proin for several years and never leaks anymore.  The pooping - I don't know.  Possibly an allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient in the food.  Possibly a poor quality food that has a lot of fillers that are not digested.  Possibly separation anxiety.
I would definitely get a full workup at the vet.  There is also a possibility that something is going on with her nerves or her lower spine that could be causing spasms and urine/feces leakage.
Good luck and let us know.

Test results showed nothing. Changing food resulted in very loose stool for two weeks. However she did not pee anymore, until Thursday night. Vet said to change food again, that something in there was not agreeing with her. New food gave solid stool in 24hrs. Thank you to everyone who showed concern :)

Kirkland Signature Nature’s Domain Salmon Meal & Sweet Potato Formula for Dogs (December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013)

The recall has now been confirmed in a news release posted by the Food and Drug Administration and updated on 5/7/2012.

How to Know If You Have a Recalled Product

If your pet food has been recalled, the production codes on the back of bags will have both a number “3” in the 10th digit and an “X” in the 11th digit.

The best before dates for the recalled brands listed are December 9, 2012 through January 31, 2013.

The following diagram illustrates how to read the production code and best-before date:

The dog food recall affects only products distributed in the following U.S. states, Puerto Rico and Canada.

    Alabama
    Connecticut
    Delaware
    Florida
    Georgia
    Maryland
    Massachusetts
    New Hampshire
    New Jersey
    New York
    North Carolina
    Pennsylvania
    South Carolina
    Tennessee
    Vermont
    Virginia
    Canada
    Puerto Rico

Of course, wider distribution through other pet food channels is always possible.

What to Do?

Salmonella is serious business – for both you and your pet. So, if you can confirm your dog’s food is one of the products being recalled, stop feeding or handling it immediately.

If you’ve discarded the packaging (something we recommend you never do) – or you’re in any way in doubt – do not take chances. Be safe. Stop feeding or handling the product anyway.

According to Diamond:

Pet owners who are unsure if the product they purchased is included in the recall, or who would like replacement product or a refund, may contact Diamond Pet Foods via a toll free call at 1-866-918-8756, Monday through Sunday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST.

The company has set up a special website containing all Diamond Dog Food products currently under recall — along with all relevant package codes.

You can report complaints about FDA-regulated pet food products by calling the consumer complaint coordinator in your area.

Or go to http://www.fda.gov/petfoodcomplaints.

Hooray for power restoration! Between my hot flashes and over 100 outside for about ten days now - I would surely check into a hotel, or just melt :)  I agree on the whackiness. At an off leash area running free she could care less about any other dog even if they run up to her.She stays focused on me and the good sniffs on the ground. On a leash however, oh boyski - a whole other animal. Same as in the house or in her yard. She basically comes unglued when the kids ride their bikes or skateboards on the sidewalk next to 'her' 95 foot fence. In the Jeep she could care less about anyone walking up beside, say to put their groceries in their car. She lifts her head then drops it back down to resume napping. I don't know what she would do if a stranger opened the door and tried to take something, I really don't. I don't want to know. But then again, their career choice, not mine. Enjoy your day!

Good Morning from Colorado! The name is Kirkland Nature's Domain Turkey Meal and Sweet Potato Grain Free Formula in a bright red bag with a sketched husky face on the front. I am touched by the kindness on this website. Thank you.

I finally have power back so I can post!  After I boarded one of the two pits due to the heat in the house!  Of course the vet is closed til Monday.  Spa vacation for Squash!
The food does sound good, and those ingredients don't often trigger allergies, although anything is possible.
Another bulldog story:  I had a bully years ago that had congenital issues in her lower spine as well as her tail with most of the vertebrae fused.  She was not spayed but had incontinence due to this.  I'll be interested in what the vet says.
And thanks for the compliments on my 'crew'. My two don't get along so I would be very careful if you do add another to the pack.Pits can be a bit 'wacky' sometimes with other dogs.  That's why I had to board Squash, I couldn't take both to a hotel if the power didn't come on.  Of course my Pumpkin was the perfect angel :-)

Well, you must have been posting while I was.....Your food sounds Good....Also, grainfree ~~~ that blows my theory......Yes, maybe you are overfeeding.......
If you will give me an actual name to your food, I will research it and see if others are having problems.......There have been many food recalls, lately......It seems some of them were the Costco brand......Let me know....Karla

Hi and thank you for your input. She is about 75 pounds of nothing but muscle. We feed her grain free turkey meal and sweet potato formula from Costco at $40 a bag. Is that cheap food? She has an appt next Friday afternoon and I'm sure we'll find some resolution :)

I just saw your profile and the pictures of your dogs - amazing! I would like to add to our family as well. We don't have kids and have a triple lot size for Denver, that is completely fenced. I just don't know how Chooch would react.Your dogs have great collars! It's difficult to find really good quality collars here.

No, She's not mad at you.......That's a "Human" phrase! Dogs live in the present.....I agree w/ deadgamegrrl, your dogs has something (Or two) going on that needs to be addressed......The "spay incontinence" fits the urine symptoms and medications work wonders.....You also need to have the urine checked w/a urinalysis to check for UTI or infection....

The 3 lbs. of poop in yard usually means that her food is full of ingredients that dogs cannot utilize...That would be an abundance of cheap GRAIN fillers that pass right through the digestive system......If you are feeding a low quality food from a discount center or grocery store, then that's the problem.....Most of these foods are full of junk fillers that serve No nutritional purpose......They just make the food less expensive.....

If your dog is over weight, then your overfeeding, if she's too thin, then your underfeeding.......That's the best way to tell......Normally, the amounts to feed, listed on your bagged food is way too much...The company wants you to buy more food!    Let us know what you find out & good luck.....Karla

Thank you for your input, we are grateful. I have an appt for her next week so I'll keep you posted. I never thought about her food being a culprit. We buy her grain free turkey meal and sweet potato formula from Costco at about $40 a bag. She really likes it, but I guess that doesn't mean it's good for her.(?) What do you feed your dog?
