Dog peeing in house

Hi.  I rescued my min pin 6 years ago.  Since that time I have been struggling with his marking and flat out full-on peeing inside the house, no matter how many time i take him out.  Today I am at my wits end.  I moved a piece of furniture and found several spots where he must have been secretly peeing for a long time.  I LOVE this dog but I feel like this issue has never gone away no matter what I have tried and I am so frustrated that I am doing what I thought I would never do and thinking about finding him a new home.  I live in a rental-that thank god-the owner allows dogs but now I don't know how I am going to explain the damage to the hardwood floors and don't want the landlord to penalize the next tenant because of my dog.  I also don't want my min pin to ruin my new apartment.  If I find someone who loves this dog the way I do-am I doing the wrong thing?  I would NEVER take him to a shelter but I cant keep crying over this issue.  What can I do??????

Some small dogs can be very hard to house train.  Is he neutered?
It would be your decision to try and rehome him but new owners may not be so patient.

I suggest you check into belly bands.  Do a Google search.  Many people I know use these on their small and large  dogs inside the house.

Is the dog alone for long periods of time (while you are at work, say)?  That could be the driving issue and the only fix I can' think of is to limit where the dog can go when you are away.

Or, does the dog carry on in your presence - in front of you?  If you can catch the dog in the act you have a better chance of changing the behavior.

If the dog is alone for long periods it may be a good idea to try to find the dog  a home where someone is home a good part of the day and at night. better if they have a fenced yard.

Hope  you get better help from others here, thankfully I have never had that problem with our dogs.
