Dog worries

My dog is a terrier mix and we have had him for about 10 years. He has been eating and has had normal bowel movements. He has been shivering randomly at times, whimpering at times, and when he goes to shake off like a lot of dogs do, it seems as if he is doing it extra gentle because it appears he doesn't want to hurt himself. I am not sure what the problem is but i am really worried. I have made him an appointment for the vet clinic tomorrow in the afternoon. Anybody ever heard of this? and if so, do you know what the treatment was?

Sounds like a disc injury to me....Possibly arthritis of the spine because of weather change....Does he cry when you pick him up? If so, it's his back......Good luck & let us know what the Vet thinks.....Karla

Please be sure to get some blood work done on your dog. All senior dogs, should have annual blood work performed, to assess kidney and liver function.
Shivering was one of the first symptoms my dog displayed, when she was having kidney failure.
Best wishes...

He does yelp. But I did notice when he gets in these fits, it is like his bones lock up and he can't move. When he is in this state this is when he yelps. I have been looking these symptoms up online and have seen that it could be seizures :(  Ok, and I will inquire about the blood work being done
Nothing i can do for him right now till the vet visit tomorrow, I hope they can help him. I will keep yall posted. Thanks for the comments

Glad you are going to the Vet and agree he should have blood work done.
Good luck

Just got back from the vet..They did a check on him and the vet said she thinks he either pulled/injured one of his disks in the back part of his body. I asked about the blood work and she said was not needed. She gave me pain meds, inflammatory meds, and muscle relaxers. I give this to him until the meds are gone. I am really hoping that was the problem and that these medicines will work..

Glad you got him checked and rest and the meds will help.

Due to his age, surprised she didn't want to do base line blood work.

Good luck!

I was surprised too, but the vet said since he was eating fine and using the bathroom fine and no throwing up she didn't think he needed blood work.

I had to take my dog back to the vet because he kept whining and rubbing his ears. They took blood work and said that everything was fine and they looked in his ears and did not see anything. They don't know what the problem is but gave us some more medicine..
