Ear Hematoma?

I think my Vizsla had an ear hematoma. While walking her today I noticed blood dripping from her ear where she had a dime sized lump for a few months. I took her home and cleaned the area with warm water and noticed some white gunk coming out of it, so I squeezed it a bit and more came out, with blood, and finally a tan colored lump. It was almost like a large zit. I cleaned it with warm water and put a bit of neosporin on it. She doesn't seem bothered by it at all, and now there's just a large hole where that blob came out. Could this have been a hematoma that ruptured on its own? How should I proceed?

If it was a hematoma, it may just come back.  If it does, you should have it evaluated by your Vet to try to determine the cause. They often have to be aspirated or surgically removed.  In the mean time, do try to keep it clean.

Hi,these can look just awful,I had a Rottie who had one,
though it was a small hole after it ruptured I did take her
into our vet as it looked deep to me.
He did clean it and put two small sutures in it so it would
close and heal without infection,Zena was put on oral
antibiotics after her ear flap was cleaned by our vet,it all
turned out great and it was not visible after it healed.
