Fighting dogs

I have two small dogs, both neutered females, who have lived together for over six years and have occasionally had a fight. However they are now fighting constantly to the extent that three times one or other has required surgery.
Is there a way to stop this behaviour? I have to now separate them during the day when I'm not home but as soon as they are re-united they attack each other.

Is one more popular with the family than the other could there be jealousy issues as you get with siblings in a Family, make sure both get petted so they are not in competition, for affection, if you have children is there a preferance of Dog ,you may have to seperate and supervise, make sure they get enough exercise very often dogs are left in the house or yard all day ,not getting out or getting any form of stimulation.and they get frustrated and act out..Good luck
