GI Problems with my Dog

Okay so here's the story.  A couple days ago I came home in the morning from working the overnight at my hospital.  I found that my 2.5yo pitbull (don't hate, he's awesome) had, first, a really LARGE bowel movement on my floor surrounded by a few smaller soft to diarrhea-like poops on my floor.  He's fully housebroken and gets regular walks so I knew something was up but he seemed okay.  We went to sleep and when I got up that afternoon he was fine until a couple hours later he started to get visibly uncomfortable.  Whining, very needy, didn't want to walk much, etc.  I KNOW this was a bad sign but I had to work again that night so my boyfriend came over to stay with him.  By the next day, he was 150% himself.  Annoyingly so, haha.  With a couple exceptions.  He doesn't really want to eat his dry food (though he wants is Kong stuffed with some peanut butter) and his poops had been really small and normal to soft in consistency.  Still he seems to be getting better and better.  Not in any visible discomfort, tummy feels normal, wants to play.  I've started giving him white mac n cheese and cottage cheese since last night because it has better binding and carbs that make it easier to digest, but this morning he did not poop at all.  He just didn't seem like he had to.  Not like he tried and nothing came out, he just wasn't into it and he's still acting 100% normal.  I would like to get him some canned pumpkin but it's seasonal.

Any suggestions?

I don't have a lot of money fr the vet but I love my dog more than anything and I will find a way to get money but first I want to see if anyone out there has any insight into what's going on.  Could this be a behavioral thing?  He's a rescue who was used as bait for fighting dogs so he's got some issues but he's always been pretty good with potty.

Thanks!

It just sounds like either a doggy flu, or maybe he just ate something bad. it dosent sound too serouse. jast wait a while and if he starts getting sicker again, the ring the vets, they usually give advice for free.

Hi it sounds like he had an upset tummy and just got rid of everything. That would have taken a bit out of him.
You have done the right thing ,Do not worry the amount of poo that came out!  the upset tummy would have emptied him completly. He cannot go if nothing to come out it has to build up again.
It sounds like he is over his problem give him a couple of days before you start worrying also do not let him see you are worried as it could affect him.

You are a very caring and loving person ....this little soul is lucky he has ended up with you just keep loving and taking care of him! dogs are very strong and resiliant and together  with your help he will be a happy loving and carefree dog knowing he has You to love and trust forever.
Dont be a stranger on here we would love to know how he is going.
