How scared should I be about the bump on my dogs eyelid

Yesterday we took our 3 year old husky/retriever mix to the vet and they decided to aspirate the bump on his inner eyelid because it looked like it could be cancer and not just a stye. We have to wait for a few days to hear results and its so hard when the worrying about the worse case scenario takes over your thoughts. I'm just curious if anyone has experienced this sort of thing, and if it does turn out to be cancer, is there any hope that it can be removed without affecting my dogs eyesight or quality of life?

Just checking in and saw this post.

Our then 8 yo (est. rescue) Westie developed an growth on an eyelid.  This was soon after the adoption and I don't recall the details...but best I can recall the vet did not suggest anything more serious than an growth, I think the vet was more concerned about the growth damaging the eye due to rubbing.  In any case, the growth was removed, along with a tooth while under, and it must have been tested, biopsy - in any case cancer was never mentioned and over a year later no new growths on the eye.  He has had a couple on his body, but none on the eye.  None have been cancerous.

I have been through many lumps & bumps on eyes.....Can you describe it to me better? Like: Exact location, Size, color, description, texture, how long it's been there & why the Vet thought it looked unusual?  Karla
