My boy died suddenly - I don't understand

My Siberian Husky, died suddenly yesterday while out on a run.   He was happy and fit (10 years old).  He wasn't off his food.  He may have been a bit more tired yesterday than usual, but once he started his run he was full of energy.
He then suddenly collapsed on the ground, let out one long husky song and died.

I have no idea what could have caused his death and no idea how to carry on without him.

He wasn't overweight, he was strong and fit, his recent check up the vet said wished all the dogs were that healthy.
Can't believe it.

I am so sorry ---please do not blame yourself - he died doing what he loved -I am not a vet, but have heard of kids dying during a run or a football practice and then it was found later that they had some heart defect that nobody knew about.  Maybe that was what happened to your boy?
It is so hard to lose a dog suddenly like that, but maybe you can take comfort in knowing he didn't suffer thru a long illness, but died quickly--When you are ready maybe you can adopt another one to honor his memory. I think he would like that!

I feel so guilty, if I hadn't taken him for a run, he might still be with us.
