Pumpkin Puff Pet Treats

I just got this recipe from my vet as part of their Christmas card and thought I would share it with you in case you wanted to give your dog a homemade treat in his/her Christmas stocking.

Pumpkin Puff Pet Treats

1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups oats
1/4 cup applesauce

Directions:

First, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together thoroughly. Drop tablespoonfuls of the mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet and press flat with a fork. Bake for approximately 15 minutes and then cool on a rack before serving. To maximize freshness, be sure to store the Pumpkin Puff Pet Treats in an airtight container.

Note: if your pet has a pre-existing medical condition, please consult your veterinarian before introducing a new food to your pet's diet.

Thank you for the recipe. I'd like to make that for my dog. (or me) At least you know there aren't any horrible chemicals/preservatives/nasty added fats  in this. This sounds so good, it would probably do for my Christmas dinner (not joking)

Now that's a great idea!  Thanks for sharing - I'm going to give it a try.  I imagine it's great for dogs with constipation issues too.  LOL!  :-)
