Swollen stomach

I have a 14 year old cockapoo.  She has not been spayed but is only around one male dog who is nuetered.  We recently moved about 8 weeks ago and she was experiencing some diarrhea so we played with her food a bit giving her an alternate hard dog food (she normally eats SD).  This really did nothing so I tried giving her some pumpkin purée with her hard food (back on SD).  Diarreaha seems to be gone but her tummy seems swollen and getting bigger, just in the last week or so.  She has no other symptoms, eating normal, sleeping normal, no vomiting, no labored breathing.  As she is is 14, she does have some lumps and bumps on her body and moves more slowly than before....any guess as to what might be going on?

A vet is the right next step.

Please let us know what you learn.  I am sure others are reading but do not yet have any helpful information they can share.  Too, others who do may have not yet read.  At least this interaction will keep your post on page 1.

Hope is is something simple, easy to treat.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, she does still go into heat cycles, last one was about 2+ months ago.

The swollen stomach issue, swelling is in her abdomen and it feels a bit like an (underfilled) water balloon.  She does not seem uncomfortable but I do not believe this is "fat" or weight either...just does not seem normal.  I have made an apt to see the vet, I would better be safe than sorry.

I will assume SD stands for Science Diet dog food.  That is not one of the better dog foods, but if it has been eaten for years and the dog was healthy what more can you ask for.

At 14, does you dog still go into heat (breading) cycles?  I would doubt it but I am not an expert on breeding dogs.  In fact I have no experience on the matter.

If you are feeding straight Kibble, any brand, it is generally recommended to give dogs some canned food along with their Kibble.  A small dog such aIs yours, we have a 20 pound Westie, one can as a supplement should last at least 3 days.  I usually add a little water too...and of course water is always available.

I do not fully understand the swollen stomach either, where and how much?
