Trying to quiet my dog during recovery

Hello..... my 8 yr old dog has been diagnosed with IVDD. He is recovering with medicinal treatment. He has become very active as of late and is exibiting some anxiety that may be related to the prednisone that he is on.
I would like to know if I can give him some Benadryl to quiet him a bit.
He is currently taking 20 mg prednisone 2x daily, 100 mg tramadol 2x daily. Can he have Benadryl without signifigant side affects ?
Thank you for your help.

Your best bet is to find a holistic vet who can decide the least hazardous approach -- i have one.  Sometimes she uses meds, sometimes more gentle herbal remedies.  But you should never give a dog a drug any more than you would a human before seeing a doc.

I couldn't agree with MYoungAtHeart  more. I agree that you should call your vet before you give your dog ANYTHING which could possibly harm him.

While you wait for your appointment or call back from the vet, you could post your question on our Dog Forum. The link is below.

I know how anxious we can get over our pets health, but we have to always think of their safety first.

Just as I would never take any meds without a doctors approval, we should never give our pets any meds that might hurt them...Please call a vet and make an appointment for your dog to be seen
