Its the 2nd time I am seeing this on my Maltese....in 1 patch on her back, near her tail.....she doesn't complain about them being itchy. My groomer suggested it was an allergy to chicken. I stopped the chicken for a while, changed her shampoo to aloe and oatmeal shampoo and all disappeared. My baby loves chicken....and duck, can't help sneaking it in once in a while. I had discussed this with a vet,(not our vet) who suggested the crusts might be related to crohnes disease, IBS etc...... I think the groomer was right.
If the bites are only on his rear end, then they're probably flea bites. (Although they usually do not scab). Even on Revolution, the flea still has to bite to die. If they are other places like tummy & back, then it's probably Staph Sores. Bathing with an antibacterial shampoo makes a huge difference. If he is eating a just average food, upgrading to a premium will help. A canine multi-vitamin will also help....With better nutrition and vitamins, the excess of Staph will cease to exsist.....The shampoo will heal the sores he has and help prevent new ones from forming....Hope this helps.....Good luck...Karla
I am having the same thing with my Yorkie. Have you been to the vet? It is so strange. It seems like they are bites of some kind, but he doesn't seem to really notice them. I can pick them off and he isn't phased. I brush his bootie and he doesn't notice? It is almost like they are not there. I have him on Revolution, so I know they are not flea bites. Let me know if you find out anything interesting. Thanks!
My sweet boy suffers with scabby like things occasionally. We use a medicated shampoo, Oxydex, from the vet. Sometimes I bathe him every day or 2 to get them to clear up. It really works wonders. Between outbreaks we use an aloe and oatmeal shampoo that is very soothing to him, his smile says it all. Good luck to you and your little one.
