Why is my dog losing hair only around her eyes???
Our 2 1/2 year old female black lab, not spayed, healthy as a horse, seems to have some slight hair loss only around her eyes. Her eyes are not watery, but seem a bit red where they should be white. She is an inside dog, very active, and no changes in her world or anything. Any idea why she may be losing hair just around her eyes??? I prefer a doctor's opinion as I've researched this extensively already, and have cured a friend's dog of demodectic mange also.
Well, as far as I know, no experts/Vets visit these forums. From your description, the first suspect would be mange but you would have to get skin scrapings for that diagnosis. Could be hormonal or thyroid related. Any food changes? If it continues, worsens or spreads, you may have to get some blood wirk and skin scrapings done.
