Why is my dog trembling when inhaling?

I have a 14 yo lab retriever with chronic kidney disease. Since yesterday, she has had episodes of trembling when inhaling when she is laying down. Any idea why this light be happening?  It is very cold here, but I don’t think that’s it. Thanks.

It sounds as if maybe inhaling is causing some pain or discomfort. Is her belly swollen at all? She may have fluid retention possibly....but something causing discomfort when she lies down, which is less, or she doesn't get when standing .
Have you mentioned this to the vet?

Thanks for answering--since I asked this, she completely stopped eating.  We had her to the vet twice.  Her labs are bad.... giving her subQ fluids and anti nausea meds.  Thanks again for caring!  So hard.
nalh, my kindest thoughts to you and your dog. Yes it is hard.
The anti nausea meds and the fluids may buck her up a little for a while. I do hope so, and that she is more comfortable. Maybe you can tempt her with some home cooked nice food, like scrambled egg, or chicken stew....
Bless her.
Thank you.  Have been cooking for her and doing what we can.
