Why is she growling at just the one person ?!!

My dog, Dilys shes an F1 chocolate Labradoodle, shes 5 and she loves everybody !!!

Sometimes when my sisters friend comes over in the morning before school and Dilys will be lying on the sofa (watching the world go by-its her fave place !)  So my sisters friend comes over to her and pets her, and Dilys will like growl/talk to her but wont snarl or move or anything ! The like this morning I patted her with my sisters friend and Dilys stopped.

Why is this ?!

Shes the only one person she is like that to.

Thankyou xxx

Hi, thanks everyone for their advice/comments !!

F1 is first cross- which means a Standard poodle X Labrador.
F2 is second cross- F1 labradoodle X F1 Labradoodle.
F3 is third cross- F2 Labradoodle X F2 Labradoodle.

This dog is probably doing it because the couch is her place. Members of your family could, in time, start to receive the same type of greeting. If your dog sees people start to back away, she will respond to that by uping the level of growling and could eventually bit someone. One of the problem with people who breed mix breeds is that they charge huge prices and pay little attention to the temperaments of the dogs, so unsuspecting families end up with these types of issues. I would not trust this dog around this other child and in the long run, your family could be facing liability issues. I would NEVER tell your dog: "It's okay" trying to show her that the friend means ne harm. In doing that you are actually telling the dog: "Your BEHAVIOUR is okay" which will really compound the problem.

if she was on her spot in the house then she could be just warning her that that is her spot in the house. or she could have smelled another dog that she didn't like on her or maybe she could be just letting your sisters friend know shes alpha female in the house. i would just stay next to her when that person comes over and tell her that it's ok and just talk to her. some dogs are funny like that. My beagle will bark and run and jump on me when people go into our backyard. I just talk to her and tell her "yes i know somebody is in your yard but it's ok." (don't judge me i talk to my animals). you may never know what exactly that dog is thinking when your sisters friend comes over.

She has never been aggressive in her life ! You can literally do anything to her ! One time (this may sound mean) I put the henry hoover nozel on her and she didnt move !

She is sometimes is like that with my sisters friend and sometimes she nearly bowls her over and goes all silly and friendly.

So I dont think that is the case.

Dilys sounds a bit quirky to me.  I would suggest that strangers use caution around her... sounds as if she may become (at some point) aggressive.  Dog behavior can change as they mature and grow older.  Be patient, and watch her carefully around strange people for now.  You may even consider limiting the amount of new people she meets and spends time around for now.
