She might look into "halo for paws" - I've heard some good things about these contraptions.
Blu gave you some great advice.
I assume blood work was done and nothing showed up? The only way to possibly determine the cause would be to do more testing, that would be the owner!s decision and if they can assume the expense. They may want to consult a canine Opthamologist.
If it were me, I would be contacting the breeder to see if there are any problems in the lines bred, if they knew or would be honest.
I worked for a vet 8 years. I took care of blind dogs, too. They are sweet, in my opinion, and just need to be led so they don't bump into things. They love being petted and (for small dogs) held/carried. These dogs tend to walk with nose to ground, using their sense of smell to make up for being blind. They need their food and water kept in the same place, always. And don't move furniture around for her to bump into. She will develop a mental map of her home and eventually get around without bumping into things. Keep her away from stairs! Always softly call her name before petting her if she is sleeping, so she is not startled by the sudden contact. You can even lay some of your unwashed clothing around the house in places she can go, so she associates your scent with safe places. Squirt diluted vinegar in no-no places (dogs don't like the smell of vinegar). Dilute it alot. Dog noses are very sensitive. She will smell it if you cannot. Teach her new commands: 'stop' 'stay' 'follow me' ... commands that will be useful in her blind world. She may 'talk' more, wanting to know where her parents are if she feels lost, and just talk back to her to let her know you are there. She will need to be crated with food water and a bed (with your scent) when not being supervised. She will still enjoy treats, and may even play tug-of war with a rope, or chase something that makes noise. Blind dogs can live a very happy and full life, just like people can. Blessings - Blu
