Dave
yea I gave her a cool shower with Dawn dish soap ...went over her coat with a fine tooth comb nothing bit her as far as I can tell..she is running around like normal (she is only 6 months old) eating everything in sight and not scratching if the welts don't go down by tomorrow I will give her Benadryl.....thanks
Must be an allergic reaction to something.
There is something called folleculitis that can appear like that but you should probably see some type of pustule.
I mentioned poison because there have been instances where dogs have eaten rodents that ingested poison, not necessarily in the owner's yard, but the animal went in their yard.
Well, maybe try the Benadryl and at least the cold compresses.
Please update.
i have no poison or traps... i guess all i can do is wait to see it they go down by tomorrow if not take her to vet
their are no pimples or heads on the welts...nothing on her neck or face or in her mouth....she doesn't really scratch them and it doesn't bother when i poke or pull on them.
i also don't see any bite marks
Meant to add..... Did you get the mouse? Is there any poison or traps out? If the mouse were poisoned, it could affect the dog.
Could be a contact thing or something she ingested. Anything new in the yard? Plants, etc? Did you try going over her to see if there are any bites? Hard, because of the short cost, but you can take a fine-toothed comb, start at the base of the tail and slowly run the comb against the lay of the coat so you can see down to the skin. Will take a while to go over the entire dog but you may see a bite mark.
Any pimples or heads on these welts or just welts?
You can give Benadryl, 1mg/lb and see if that makes a difference. If you have an anti-bacterial shampoo, bath her in that then use a dog conditioner. You could bath in a mixture of diluted apple cider vinegar then rinse.
You can try applying cool compresses.
If those spread, you don't see any improvement, see any swelling of the mouth or face, vomiting, best to get to the Vet.
Keep an eye on her. Good luck and please update.
My dog reacts this way to mosquitoes! Like, the exact same welts.
Try using a natural bug repellent and see if that helps her.
