I have an 11 yr' old lab/whippet mix who seems to be good w/ males but not female's. When we got Abby we had Logan an American Dingo and Molly boarder collie/chow mix and Wiley a neighbors dog who lived with us during the week and home on the weekend's, Abby was 3 month's and I kept her in a pen enclosure for a few week's to allow the other dog's to adjust to her they would all take turns laying by her pen including my cat all seemed well. I then switched her to her crate for naps, after about 3 week's I could see thing's were going well and no growling just curious loving responcesso out the puppy (Abby) came, Logan 2 yrs was the first to greet her and he just fell in love and took over from there playing with her every day like it was his puppy, then Madoc who acted more like a dog than a cat the other 2 just stuck together and when Abby would go near Molly 8 yrs. she would just head for another room most times but they did seem fine until Abby got a bit older, then the fight's started and they were bad I have many scars from breaking them up through the next 7 yrs until she passed away. Logan passed this past april from a malignant anal tumor he was just shy of 12 years. I decided to get another American Dingo and a male as I know Abby does good with males but so far , not so good after 3 week's they have only seen each other briefly through a mesh wired gate covered with a sheet because Abby gets vicious and Abby just want's to get a hold of him and there is no doubt she would kill him in a second so, the gate will stay up and puppy and Abby will each share seperate side's of the house until puppy is much older, but it is such a job. I am praying when pup is older and Abby caged muzzled it will work out. I have been told by 2 vet's that Abby should be euthanized she is also very bad with children and would attack my 4 yr. old grandaughter in a heartbeat if she got the chance, I usually lock her in another room when my son comes to visit. I love Abby but she is like having a loaded weapon around all the time. I went to get a package after it was delivered Abby was so wound up from it being dropped off as soon as I opened the door she swung her head at my leg and got me in my calf muscle so another round of antibiotics cleaning and waiting to heal. I really agree with the vets and as much as I love Abby, I think it would be best to euthanize her as much as I don't want to it is a matter of it has to be but my husband cannot deal with having to do that because she has such a lovable side to her as passionate as the dangerous one., he thinks we can rehome her that is a definately NOT. I am hopeing he will come to terms with it and help me do what we need to do. If anyone could please weigh in with opinion's they would be greatly appreciated from the heart.
