Winston has had a subcutaneous cyst(uunder skin) for about 1 year 1 month. IMO it hasnt really changed much in size..althpugh it has grown some. Back in december or november the vet aspirated it in his office and said it was clear with no cells and there was no need to send it to the lab. We brought him in for a followup today, and the vet aspirated it and said it was mostly clear, but not 100 percent. He sent it in to the lab. He said he thinks it may be fat cells and a fatty mass...does this sound probable. Also when he aspirated it in november, he caused the cyst to get infected and to abcess...another vet told me cancer doesnt abcess?

I have some experience with a Golden Retriever that developed fat pockets on his chest at about the age of 10.  On large one was removed and the dog was diagnosed with a slow growing cancer.  We did not treat the cancer and additional pockets formed a couple of hears later and he was put down at age 12.  The cancer was checked by biopsy - you didn't mention any biopsy, why not. That is not an expensive procedure if tissue is easily obtained.

You didn't tell us the age and breed of your dog.  This contributes to the lack of responses, I believe.

I also got the aspiration results, and the lump is cancer free, and just a fatty mass.

I am worried about another lump though. Last monday july 1 winston had a lum pon him and i saw a black thing so i picked it off..im pretty sure it was a tick but not positive..vet looked at it on thursday, and told us to put animax on it twice per day( i had been putting it on once per day since monday).

it's still there and maybe even a little bigger....could this be cancer?
