Anesthesia methods to remove lipoma over accessory nerve in neck

I have a simple lipoma over my spinal accessory nerve in the neck. It’s relatively small in size with largest angle approx 3cm. I’m worried it may grow and would then need to explore removal. My Dr. told me bc of the location general anesthesia would be required bc local impedes the use of a nerve stimulator. I am very hesitant to go under for a lipoma. Would other methods (ie sedation) be a reasonable option, or is GA the only option?
