Ankyloglossia - Tongue Tie

Our baby has been diagnosed with a type four Ankyloglossia (Tongue Tied).  Because of this our daughter can not breast feed properly.  She is 6 weeks old at the time I write this (8/8/07).

We are looking for a doctor who will do the procedure to loosen the tongue (a snip of the frenulum) without completely putting her under.

The closest doctor who will do this is in Arkansas and one in New York.  We are in Georgia.  Anyone heard of this type four tongue tie and know someone who will do this procedure?

Brandon

My son also had this, we had his tongue "snipped" at 2 weeks.  We had our family physician refer us to the Ear, Throat, Nose doctor.  I missed the procedure due to running a fever that morning, although I am pretty sure that my husband said they did not put him under.
If your family doctor cannot recommend someone closer to your area you could do a web search.
I did find a site www.atlantakidsent.com  their phone number is 770-953-1414.  You could try calling them.  Most Dr's want to wait till a year old for this surgery, stress the fact that it is interfering with breast feeding and you may get further.  This is what I had to do to get the procedure done so early.  Anyway good luck and hopefully if this Dr. can't help they can refer you to someone who can!
