Constant Pressure In Both Ears

I have had this issue with my ears since I was about 12 or so... I'm 32 now. No ENT Specialist could tell me what the problem was caused by, what it was nor how I could fix it. I moved to Australia 4 years ago and the problem has now become unbearable. I went to see an ENT Specialist here in AU and he just looked in my ears for about 5 second and said that I need grommets. I have read problems and scary stories about grommets and I was hoping there was someone out there that has had this problem and had a miracle fix that doesn't involve putting holes in my ear drums. :) Thanks so much everyone.

Hi Christina,  my husband has had pressure in his ears where he feels like he's underwater and he even receives his sounds thru vibration. He has fluid behind his eardrums and the tubes (grommets) relieved the pressure and has helped to drain his ears. Do you hear cracking and popping in your ears? If so, you probably have fluid and need to get that out so you don't get bad ear infections and chronic ear problems. There can be problems with tubes but as long as you bring it to the attention of your ENT immediately you will probably be o.k.. If you do have fluid behind your eardrums he should suction it out when he puts the tubes in. I know it seems scary but over time it will probably be better for your overall physical, mental, and emotional health if you have this taken care of. My husband went to doctors when he was your age and unfortunately they couldn't diagnose his problems until the last 4 years and he is 54 now. He could have been saved a lot of grief and difficulty in life if it had been taken care of sooner. As with other areas of your wellbeing that I'm sure you're aware of , you just need to take charge of your ear health. Hope all goes well with you!! Hope this helps a little.Keep us posted on your progress. We are here for support.

Three of my younger cousins have had to have tubes ( grommets) put in their ears. They say it's a bit uncomfortable at first, but at least they did't go deaf ( is how they put it ) and the pressure went away almost right away.
You could try putting drops of watered down hydrogen peroxide in your ears ( one at a time ) while laying on your side...but when they say you need tubes it's not generally because of small wax build up...so that probably would't help.
Sorry I can't be of much more help.
