Constant Throat Clearing, Ear Pain

About 3 months ago I noticed I was clearing my throat often. It was weird because I never really paid any attention to it until I noticed people turning their head and looking at me like I was trying to get their attention.

Then about a month and a half ago I got really stressed and started worrying often, and got a sinus infection about 2 weeks later. The doctor took xrays and gave me amoxicillin clavulanate. He said one side cleared after a week, but the right side needed another week or antibiotics. I never really felt 100% better and then last Friday I started having ear pain and little fever. So I started myself on Levaquin 500 mg a day. Felt better next day but it does not seeming to be going away, now on my 4th day of Leviquin. Plus my throat clearing and post nasal drip has never gone away 100% either.

Today the constant throat clearing and post nasal drip has caused my throat to feel raw, plus I have ear pain mainly on the right side but sometimes on the left side but never both sides at the same time. No fever or any other symptoms and feel fine otherwise, maybe a little tired.

Also today I had a dentist appointment, she drilled and filled my cracked tooth, put on a temp crown (I am on phase 2 of a root canal on this tooth and part of it cracked off after phase 1), the raw throat and post nasal drip got worse. So I took some benadryl and it seemed to help. Plus I concouisuly stoped clearing my throat (and the raw throat started to feel better a few hours later), every time I felt the need to clear I would sip on tea, take a mint or just swallow.  I took tylenol and later ibuprophin (thinking my ear eustachian tube maybe infected or inflammed).

I quit smoking 4 days ago and live in central Bangkok with alot of smog.

This is really getting to me, I will go back to the ENT guy tomorrow. What do you think, is it likely the sinus infection moved to my ear tubes, should I try prednisone or steroid nose spray or both? Any ideas, other thoughts? It is difficult to explain all this to the Thai doctor with the language differences, but I will tell him for sure about the throat clearing that started 3 months ago and ear pain now.

Finally starting to feel better, still not 100% but getting there. Started on Prednisone 5mg 2 pills 2-3 times a day and Rhinocort budesonide nasal spray yesterday (2-64 mcg doses). Zyrtec during the day and Benedryl at night. No more PND, throat clearing or raw throat. Plus I got in an hour of exercise mall walking at the Emporium yesterday (best to stay indoors, avoid the smog). 5 days without a cigarette. I have 4 days more to go on the Levaquin. This has been a hell of an ordeal, starting a month ago Dec 15. I sure hope after I finish this round of Levaquin the infection clears.

...also I wonder if this could be Laryngopharyngeal Reflux, as I have been under tremendous stress for the last 6 weeks, thanks and I hope someone responds, Paul
