Disgusting...

Sorry to sound a bit horrible but my scenario is that about 5 weeks ago, I sneezed and a blob of like clear plasticky stuff came from my nose. I had a septiplasty about 5 years ago. Now I never thought much about this. Since then, I have had a cough for 4 weeks, which just won't go, fluey symptoms and my nose feels tender. I feel really ill and have a disgusting taste and smell - it's hard to explain but it's so uncomfortable. There is no blood but iv had a awful cough and mucus that won't come up but antibiotics isn't helping - iv had 2 courses. Please help

Hello and hope you are doing well.

If your symptoms are worsening with the antibiotic then the infecting organism may not be susceptible to the antibiotic. You will need to re consult your doctor who may need to do a sputum culture and sensitivity to determine what antibiotic the organism is susceptible to. He may even ask for blood test and an X ray. In the meantime take OTC acetaminophen if there is pain, try to take warm oral fluids and do steam inhalations prior to your meals. This helps to loosen up and bring out the secretions.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
