Dry Mouth When Sleeping

I wake up every night, sometimes half a dozen times with a parched mouth, throat, tongue, roof, even high up on my gums. First I tried to increase saliva, although I have plenty during the day, by drinking more, using an alcohol free mouth wash, chewing gum, artifical saliva, but I don't think saliva shortage is the problem. Whilst my wife tells me I'm a quiet sleeper, she says my mouth is wide open when I'm asleep, even though my nose is clear. It's almost as if my brian tells my nose to have a rest after breathing all day and tells my mouth to take over. l've tried creating a suction with my tongue to keep my mouth closed, sticking a fist under my chin whilst I drop of to sleep, I've even used a pair of my wife's tights to tie my chin up, all to no avail. I thought that tying my chin up might work, but I was still trying to breath out of my mouth and was making a noise like a horse. Might try a vestibular shiels or chin strap, but any advice would be grarefully received.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Dry mouth could occur due to Snoring. this by itself indicates a narrow air passages. For snoring you could avoid taking alcohol and try to sleep on your side as this keeps the airways patent. If any nasal blocks try to keep them patent with OTC nasal decongestants. Aim for optimum weight with exercises or long walks. If symptoms persist consult your doctor to rule out Obstructive sleep apnea.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Sorry, meant to add that I have major dry mouth and throat issues nobody can diagnose.  I can only tell you what I do at bed time.
I brush with a Floride toothpaste.  I have Biotene rinse fir dry mouth and I use this for about 1 min before bed.  I have the Biotene mouth spray on my nightstand and water. Mi also run a humidifier in the bedroom.
