Flu advice please

I have been in bed for almost 2 days now. Yesterday I kept having very strange dreams and waking up almost every hour. I had a really bad headache, fever and the chills but i think they have subsided for the most part.

i have an intense sore throat, my lymph nodes are huge, body aches and my back is very tense.
i'm too sick to go to the store for medicine and food and haven't eaten since sometime yesterday. i have just been drinking lots of water and 7 up. i have no one to go to the store for me. i went yesterday to get 7 up from 711 but they don't have edible food, especially for being sick.

my main concern is about my sore throat. i don't have a runny nose and i haven't coughed at all. it hurts really really bad to swallow.

is this a common case of the flu? i haven't had the flu for years.
should i buy medicine and drink tea with honey? think i'm out of tylenol too.

It does sound like strep, and you do need to see a doc before it gets worse-pnemonia- and just for future information, if you do get the flu, the best thing to do is buy those small pedialyte pops or pedialyte mini drinks, (which you can usually find in the baby section at your local smiths or albertsons or whatever...), and drink a couple of them to keep your electrolytes and nutrients up. cook a little bit (1/3 cup) of ground beef (the beef is optional), cook a cup of minute rice with one cup of chicken broth in the microwave on high for 2 1/2 minutes or untill done, eat that, and if you want something different next meal, eat a banana and applesause covered toast. This is called the BRAT diet (Banana, rice, applesause, and toast). The beef rice is the best thing to eat so be sure to eat that if you have the flu. Or another thing you could do is do the CRaM diet- Cereal, Rice, and Milk- which is pretty explanitory. both work great, and you will be back to feeling better and eating regularly in 1-3 weeks, (depending on how bad a flu you have).

As a side note, determining this can be done quickly with the rapid strep test. A swab taken from the back of your throat and cultured in minutes.

The last time I had strep, I was 24 and symptoms came on rapidly. It began as body aches (feet first)and then sore throat.

The Dr. did prescribe T3 (Tylenol with Codeine) which eases the pain and helps you sleep. If you are not allergic to codeine, an option. However, if Tylenol alone works with you-stick with that.

My first thought is strep throat. I've had this a few times in my life and this is what it sounds like.
Look into this and if this sounds like you, seek medical attention. If you aren't allergic to Penicillin, this antibiotic does come in the form of a shot (in the butt.)

Best.
