Help - Uvula feels slimy and sour at the base of tongue

It feels like a constant ball of snot stuck in the back of my throat. I have seen people complain about swollen and elongated Uvulas that cause, but that does not seem to be the case. When I look in the mirrior, it appears to be somewhat irritated and has a somewhat translust (liquid filled?) tip, but not much larger than usual.
Some background information: I have seasonal allergies, have been a smoker for a year (no more than 3 a day).
I have gargled with salt water and hydrogen peroxide, but to no avail. This is the fifth day already.

I had same symptoms yesterday..woke up and my uvula was longer with a swollen ball at the end..went to the doc and she said this may be some kind of allergy..she put me on steroid and antibiotic and I already feel better..
I did some research about it and i think it's due to a severe dehydration...I had a dry mouth sensation for the last week and since I don't drink a lot during the day ( in fact i don't drink at all sometimes)..so this appear the best explanation i got..

I get the same thing and so does my mom. If you or anyone else knows how to get rid of this, let me know!
