I have Strep

I went to the doctor yesterday becasue I have not been feeling well since Tuesday. I have had a nonstop fever since Tuesday. I thought I had the flu but I notice my throat was start to swell up and the back of my throat was almost completely white...nasty. I am having difficulties eating (ok I have not eating anything since Monday night, that is how bad my throat hurts) and I can not drink either with out crying because of the pain...I am even choking sometimes becasue I can not sallow....my questions are...how long does this last? I am on 500mg of Penicillin every 12 hours and I took my second dose at 5 this morning. I also want to know how I can keep my two year old from getting this...I have tried my best to keep her away from me but she is figuring something is wrong ..mommy wants to play in my room all day..kind of thing.  Someone please help if you know anything I can do to help this along any quicker thank so much.

THanks, I am almost over it now but I have a terrible ear ache...it is like it is clogged with something..I have never had an infection so I don't realy know what it feels like. I can hear but bearly It is achy and there is a lot of pressure in my head. Any ideas if this is normal for strep?

The best thing you can do for Strep, along with taking your antibiotics, is rest and lots of clear fluids. You can also gargle with warm salt water to help with the irritation in your throat.

Now that you've been on antibiotics for 24 hours, you have lessened the chances of passing it to your daughter. Try not to share anything with her (foods, cups, etc.) and utilize strict handwashing/santizing practices right now. Lysol will be your best friend =).

I'm sorry you're not feeling well, but you're on the right track! It will get better soon!

Take care!
