Is it Post Nasal Drip?

Several years ago my doctor told me I had post nasal drip and prescribed Flonase. I use it every morning. But at night I snore really bad. My poor husband has really bad sinus issues, worse than mine but he doesn't snore half as bad as me. But when I wake up in the morning I have so much mucus in my throat and I can't cough it all up, just some. My nose isn't too bad in the mornings but it gets worse throughout the day. I am still doing the Flonase and I started taking a decongestant. I am hoping between those two it will help. I heard a humidifier helps and we use one in the fall and winter but it dries up so much. What can I do? Should I go to a ENT?

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Thanks for your question, we appreciate it.  Snoring is a common problem and there are some symptoms that can indicate sleep apnea.  These include things like if you are tired during the day, you have a sore throat in the morning, you are restless at night, you have any chest pain, high blood pressure, etc.  Those warrant doctor care right away to examine if sleep apnea is occurring and to begin treating it.  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/snoring/symptoms-causes/syc-20377694  However, most definitely a chronic nasal drip can cause snoring.

Is your chronic post nasal drip related to allergies?  It often is but there is also non allergic chronic rhinitis. I would recommend seeing an ENT to discuss possible solutions to either alleviate this issue or  improve it. They may look at other things that could contribute such as your anatomy of the nose and throat as well as if you have GERD or anything like that. Sometimes an air purifier helps and dry air makes it worse so hopefully it helps for you to use a humidifier. There are a number of different medications indicated to treat this as well.  https://www.medicinenet.com/chronic_rhinitis/article.htm

Seeing an ENT would be really helpful for you and we hope you come back and let us know how it is going.

I am going to an ENT on October 14th. Hopefully I will get some answers?
Please come back and give us any updates!  Hope the ENT appointment nets some answers!
I definitely will! Thanks! I hope they do too.
I went to the ENT today. He told me I have a deviated septum, a narrow passage and a lot of congestion. He told me that Flonase and nasal sprays won't help me much. He wants me to do a sleep study. He asked if I feel tired during the day or have headaches in the morning. Which I do sometimes. I do not want to wear a C-pap. I was told there was a surgery. Anyone know about it?
The surgery is called septoplasty - my cousin had that surgery many years ago, and while it wasn't a pleasant experience, it solved a lot of breathing issues for her.  https://www.healthline.com/health/septoplasty
