Is it normal that one cannot blow their Nose?

Hi, ever since I was small, I have never been able to blow my Nose. As a result of this, I have suffered over the years with sinititus problems. I had my sinuses washed out several years ago and within the last two months had my nose quarterised at the same when my tonsills were removed. People laugh at me as they think it is odd that I cannot blow my nose now being an adult. Would be interested to know if anyone has the same problem, and if so what could be the reason why I am unable to blow my nose.

I have never been able to blow my nose and I have a lot of allergies, I cannot use antihistamines because that just dries our the mucus and I can breathe. I have used mucus relief medicine to help keep the mucus moist and I have to try and sniff it bad into my throat that gives me a sore throat a lot.

ok, so im a minor, idl ike to not disclose my age, but in school, for covid testing, they asked me to blow my nose before sticking the cotton swab up it, and i knew i couldn't. because i never can. if i try I'm just let air out or make a snort sound, but it doesn't cause any issues. i just cant blow my nose and ppl make fun of me when i tell them. i was also never taught HOW to blow my nose SOOO IDK what I'm doing anymore honestly :')

Well, the proper way to blow your nose is to put a handkerchief or tissue to your nose and blow both nostrils at the same time.  Now, sometimes it's all in one nostril.  If your nose isn't running or stuffed up in any way, there is nothing to blow.  I'm guessing you've had viruses that caused you have a runny nose, did you never blow your nose to clear it out?  I'm not sure how one learns how to blow a nose as it's just kind of an automatic natural thing people do, but I did learn the blowing both nostrils at one time at some point so somebody obviously spoke to me about it.  It's basically just reverse heavy breathing really, instead of taking a deep breath in you're pushing outward.  But again, if you're lucky enough to never have a stuffed nose it's not really something you need to ever do.

I also have never been able to blow my nose and I constantly have issues with it being clogged and I can't breathe very well through my nose. I have to resort to picking and sticking tissues up it to get the congestion out. Only when people aren't around of course. I often get bloody noses from trying to clear it all out tho.

That's rough.  I've got a son a bit like this. Sometimes he can get stuff to come out but a lot of times he can't.  He was diagnosed years ago with enlarged turbinates which are under the nasal cavity.  I've read that having inflamed blood vessels can cause difficulty blowing your nose.  Does your daughter have allergies?

My daughter is 22 yrs old and has never blown her nose either.  I don't know how she gets along having never done it.  When she does get a runny nose all she does when she's home anyway thank God, is stuff pieces of tissues in them.  I  call them walrus tusks lol.

I have the exact same problem as you. I try and try but nothing happens. I get insulted by my own family because of it. It is difficult and I am stuck with suggestions to help myself. I have been like this all through my life. I am only 18.

Is it because it's stuffed up and you can't get anything out?  Or you actually can't make the attempt to blow it, or it hurts?
