Itchy, crusty, flaky ears and cracks behind ears now spread to face

Hello all,

For the past 8 yrs I having severe issues with my ears and around the ears with itchy, crusty, flaky and weeping ears sometimes bleeding. I also have severe dandruff issue.Initially the dermatologist though the dandruff has spread near the ears. As days passed I noticed that when wearing some ear rings I am getting severe itch at the end of the day and then it gets a delayed allergic reaction. Steorid creams helped in the beginning. For 3 months in a row when I put earrings in the piercing I reacted and with every reaction I used the prescription steroid. The prescription steroid Olux-E helped in the beginning but later (the last 4 times) it made the ear swollen. Physician diagnosed that condition as polychondritis which I was treated with Prednisone.  Not knowing for sure that ear rings are causing allergy I wore them once 4 months ago and the allergy is not going away. Nothing is helping at this point. Stopped all medications and just using cetaphil but that is not helping at all. Having sleepless nights with all the pain in the ears and the dry and flaky skin is now around the front and back of neck along with parts of the face. Not sure what this is causing.
Skin patch testing shows reaction to Metal gold.  Can the gold allergy last for months and years? Please help.
