Left ear and throat pain, mild, warm sensation in throat. Already saw Doc

Hi..I have been using cocaine for the past couple of months, about 1-3 times a week. Never in large amounts but about 5-6 lines each time. I recently (very recently) decided to stop because I realized I was being an idiot! Anyways..Last time I used it was this past sunday, and yesterday I noticed that mear left ear hurt sort of where it meets my throat, and my throat was sore on the left side and burned a tiny bit when I inhaled. Its the worse in the morning and at night, sometimes during the day I dont feel it at all. My boyfriend did it as well and doesn't have any problems what so ever. I saw a doctor today and they checked my ears and throat and saw nothing. I don't know if this is something caused by the cocaine use, or maybe just a bacterial or viral infection. I am a veteran, and don't want to tell the doctors about my use... and I am scared that my stupid mistakes may have caused something severe. Also I wanted to mention I don't have tonsils they were taken out when I was younger, and none of my glands around my neck are swollen.. if I have any nasal discharge it is clear so no sign of infection there. I have been taking sudafed thinking that it has something to do with my sinuses. And havent had a fever. If someone could get back to me soon... that would be great because I am really worried.

Hi Carol,
Thank you for getting back to me. I still havent used any again and I dont plan on it either, and my boyfriend is being supportive which is good news. The burning sensation went away, so I am guess the cocaine burnt my throat..? I have some minor headaches, and even a little pressure left in my ears but that probably because my system is trying to get back to normal and allergies dont help. I have been drinking a lot of water.. and gargled some warm salt water and that really helped out.
I am very sorry for the loss of your brother... that is a terrible thing to have to go through but he was very lucky to have someone like you that was there for him.

Thanks again Sja

Hello and thank you for your service.
First - stopping cocaine use is smart.  Don't let what your boyfriend does influence what you do.  If he continues to be stupid about drug use - move on.  My brother died 9/6/2010 -  not even 2 months ago.  He spiraled out of control when all he started with was simple "partying".
Second - drink plenty of water.  If you did burn your throat, you need to heal it.  Even though the doctor could not see anything, it could still be burnt or irritated.   And if it is bacterial or viral -- water water water water --- flush it out.
Third - if the symptoms persist another two or three days, go back and tell him you are still in discomfort - he may be able to order a test - like a CT scan or MRI.

Best wishes to you.  Stay smart, drugs are not going to do you or your future you any good.

Carol
