I just finished taking Azithromycin yesterday for what must of been a bacterial infection of my sinuses and lungs. It started as a cold. The cold went away but I was experiencing shortness of breath and post nasal drip that just wasn't subsiding. I went to two doctors. The first doctor prescribed a corticosteroid nasal spray (Omnaris). This helped a bit for the post nasal drip but wasn't addressing the shortness of breath or chronic cough that wasn't going away on its own. The second doctor prescribed Azithromycin. Within days I could breathe better and I generally feel better too. I however have laryngitis that just won't seem to go away. I've had the laryngitis for about a week. I'm just wondering why the Azithromycin worked to clear up my lung infection but not the laryngitis? What can I do to help my voice come back? Thank you
I get laryngitis after bouts of sinus infections or colds. I think it comes about from the infectious post nasal drip that constantly runs down my throat. It gets pretty terrible. The last time I had it was for 2 weeks or so. You really need to rest, drink plenty of fluids. If it's from an infection then you need to try to flush that infection out. I will get laryngitis also from constantly trying to clear my throat as well.
Not sure of your situation but I hope it clears soon cuz I know it can be brutal!!
