Sinus Surgery Gone Very Wrong

I had what was supposed to be an uncomplicated sinus surgery on Wed March 5th.  I awoke in the operating room to an eye doctor who was called in to wake me up and examine my eye which had filled with blood.  What I was told later by the ENT Doctor who performed the surgery, is that he was sorry and what happened was that the small bone between my eye & nose cracked & a piece went flying into my eye where it got inbedded into the muscle.  The injury to my eye is very serious. There is too much swelling right now, and they are not able to see the bone.  I was informed that I will most likely have to have an MRI when the swelling goes down. The eye doctor said that I may have permanent damage to the muscle, optical nerve or both.  Right now, there is double vision from that eye when it is lifted to see.  The doctor also said this could be permanent. I was advised by my ENT Specialist who performed the surgery, that the crack was not previously there, and there was only him to blame.  Has anyone ever heard of this type of eye injury being done during sinus surgery?  I am beside myself with grief over this and the possibility that I may loose my eye.
