Strep throat after oral sex

Hello,

Over two months ago I performed unprotected oral sex on a guy I had started seeing. I did not come in contact with body fluids. Two days later I had a sore throat. After it didn't go away I saw a dr. because I was scared maybe I had gotten something from him. I tested negative for gonorrhea/clamydia with the throat swab but I tested positive for group c strep (which is rare). The guy also got a uti within one week of the oral sex.

I was given amoxicillin. The sore throat went away but one tonsil stayed very swollen and is still the same two months later! I am also having nerve pain on the same side and one swollen lymph node that always stays swollen. I have seen my dr numerous times and have tested negative for stds. No one can seem to figure out how this happened or what is going on. I've been on a couple of rounds of antibiotics.

I am seeing an ENT for the second time next week. This nerve pain is terrible. Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this? Just a bad bacterial exchange between us?

I am scared the std tests may have been wrong or that I have contracted sometime very bad from him.

Any advice would be so helpful! Thank you!!

Hi, I'm I a similar situation although I did t have strep c. My swabs have only ever shown oral thrush. I'm waiting on a scan on my throat but they don't seem worried. I am though! Why is my tonsil and gland on my left side swollen and why do I have a constant sore throat!
Let me know how u get on

I am seeing another ENT this week so hopefully I'll get some answers. Thank you for giving me some relief that I hopefully haven't contracted anything from him.

Maybe the tonsil was traumatized during deep throat activity and became sensitive. Its very unlikely you have contracted anything viral as the symptoms would take much longer to appear and not in just two days.

When I was on the amoxicillin it was a 10 day dosage and I took it all. Also, the augmentin was a 10 day dosage. I am still having a lot of pain and can't figure out what's going on. :(

Thanks for your answer though! Just really worried that I picked up something else from him.

The only thing I can say here is with amoxicillin you need at least 10-12 consecutive days of  proper dose therapy to get rid of streptococcal infections. Note that two 7 day therapies will not work
