Hello and hope you are doing well.
Persisting infection or inflammation can cause the swollen tonsil. It may take a few weeks for complete resolution of your symptoms. Complete your antibiotic course and you could take OTC anti-inflammatory medications to help reduce the swelling. In the meantime try to boost up your immunity by eating a well-balanced diet. And do salt water gargling to help clear your throat. Take Care.

The last few days i been getting cold/flu like symptons cough. sneezing, runny nose and loosing my voice a little but no pain. This must be all the tar coming away! Why do you think my tonsil is still swelled a little bit? Thankyou

Hello and hope you are doing well.
The swollen tonsil and the dry throat could be due to an infection. Check to see if it is a fungal infection. Also, sometimes the dryness could be due to GERD, (Gastro Esophageal Reflux Disease), where the acid contents of the stomach came up into the esophagus. And smoking may aggravate this along with stress. So, continue with smoking avoidance and consult your doctor for an evaluation.

As your doctor diagnosed, it could be tonsillitis. Throat pain, difficulty swallowing, fever, scratchiness in the throat, post nasal drip, malaise and loss of appetite are symptoms of tonsillitis. It can be caused by bacteria like streptococcus or it could be a viral infection. Bacterial infections need antibiotics. So, continue with the antibiotics and for the pain you can use OTC Acetaminophen.
