fluterring/pain and acoustic neuroma

Hi there,
i'm a bit confused from what i read on an other site
The question was like "my left ear flutters and has pain when i hear sounds in my right ear"
Then the so called doctor answer this "Acoustic reflex adaptation: acoustic reflex is a reflex associated with the stapedial muscle, sounds in the right ear can cause contraction in the left which is called contralateral reflex. Abnormal adaptations of this reflex can cause pain. Acoustic neuroma is one cause of such pain"

I don' t know what to think about this, i have fluttering + tinnitus in one of my ear with no pain but i don't know if i have to worry or not.
Is that true that acoustic neuroma can cause such disorders(pain/flutter) ?
I read about this disease and this comment broke my understandings about it.
Thanks you

Hi, abnormal reflexes can occur if there is an interference in the nerve pathways and one cause for this interference could be an acoustic neuroma. As for tinnitus, it occurs with disorders affecting the external, the middle or the inner ear. In the outer ears cerumen impaction or external otitis, in the middle ear fluid collection or disease of the tympanic membrane and in the inner ear damage to the nerve endings can cause tinnitus. As a result of these disorders the external sounds are masked leading to awareness of normal body sounds. You will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation, who may then refer you to an ENT specialist. An ENT examination, auditory brainstem response (ABR), a computerized test of the hearing nerves and brain pathways and CT/MRI brain may be needed to diagnose the cause for tinnitus. Treatment lies in treating the underlying cause. Regards.
