Will she have to have a tonsillectomy?

My 16 year old has an enlarged tonsil and her doctor has mentioned it quite a few times. This last time she asked if she gasps for air when she sleeps. She has asthma and she has frequent colds and sore throats. She also snores when she sleeps. We got a referral to an ent. Do you think she'll have to have a tonsillectomy?

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Sorry your daughter is having trouble.  The most common reason for a tonsillectomy in an older child like this or any adult is frequent sore throats.  However, they do also perform this for sleep apnea and the issues that your daughter is having.  So, I'd say there is a high likelihood this will be recommended.  https://www.webmd.com/oral-health/adult-tonsillectomy#1  Let us know what the doctor says.
