Chronic sinusitis

Hi,

I have had sinus infections for several years. Antibiotics and allergy/decongestant medications do not seem to help. It is difficul to breathe at night. I breathe very heavy through my mouth and very little thorough my nose even with a nasal strip. I had a CT and it showed a lot of nasal congestion but very little sinus. It also showed a slightly deviated septum and nasal polyps on the middle turbinate. What do you suggest I do?

Thank you,

Melissa

Thank you for your reply. Would surgery be necessary?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
You should be evaluated by an otolaryngologist as you may be suffering from chronic allergic rhinitis, a condition that is best managed medically.  Certainly a deviated nasal septum can make your symptoms worse but recurrent sinus infections are more likely the result of an obstruction to sinus cavity outflow. This can be a result a allergic causes or anatomic obstruction.
