This is not a question, just a few tips for those who are on the road to recovering from an eating disorder. Just a little background on me: I suffered from Anorexia for six years of my life and have been recovered for twelve years now. For me, I experienced some gas and bloating. This can be quite stressful as it makes one feel full and gaining weight. I found that mixing some natural ginger in a tea or water helped. Also, digestion was a little slow for me. To help that along, I used papaya and pineapple. They both contain digestive enzymes called papain and bromelain respectively. This helps particularly to digest proteins and I still use it after a meal sometimes. It may also take a bit of time to become regular so dates, prunes and raisins helped me to kick start that again as well. Just thought I would post this for those who may be struggling with getting back on a good eating pattern again. I'm not a dietitian or medical professional. So always refer to one first. These are just some tips I used to help me in my recovery. Always here for support. Remember, recovery is possible!
Yes everybody. YOU CAN RECOVER FROM AN EATING DISORDER. I had Anorexia aged 16-18, and Bulimia age 18-32. I am now 38 and the idea of being sick is yuck! The thought of overdosing on laxatives is something I wouldn't dream off now.
The main thing that helped me to recover was to have an tested understanding that one binge will not make you fat. This belief will help you break the cycle of ridding the food which leaves you feeling empty and wanting to binge again.
Another thing that helped me was. -If I had to binge, I binged on muesli which is high in carbs, however consider RABBIT FOOD by most. There is no point of purging such food out.
Thank you for your help ExPat2013. I hope others will read this post too! :-) Beanie0
