Endo

Hi
I am 42 years old.  I am told I probably have endo.  I had an ectopic 5 years ago and after seeing a fertility specialist never could get pregnant.  I seem to have many of the symptoms of endo.  I have had previous scopes and CTs and US- all negative. I suffered from GI issues all my life and was told after seeing a specialist that I had IBS.  Wondering now if it was endo related.  At any rate, I had more pain this last week or so and have an appt with my GYN this week.  If given the choice I don't know if I should do BCP or have a hyster and oophorectomy?  I am really torn but this pain and symptoms are making me crazy.  I am a nurse so right away I think I have some other thing going on.  The pelvic pain is just getting more and more.  I also have a fibroid.  So I am wondering as I don't want to take BCP due to the hormones I wonder if it is just better to have the hyster.  However, I am sure I will get some type of hormone replacement then?  I see that there is a risk of other cancers and maybe would be good to just get it out.  Anyone have any recommendations?
Thank you

I am super happy I am seeing this post before you decided to do anything.

The first thing you need to do is find an endo specialist and get a concrete diagnoses before you take anything or even consider a hysterectomy.

To me it sounds like it is possibly endo esp with the IBS diagnoses as that is a very very common misdiagnoses.

A hysterectomy will not cure Endometriosis that is something I need to tell you. Many gyno's will say it will or to "Just take it all out" as if that will fix the problem.

The gold standard for Endometriosis treatment is minimally invasive laparascopic Excision surgery. Excision is to "cut out" the disease not laser which only gets the surface of the disease. This is extremely important in treating this disease and if done by someone that doesn't understand the disease and doesn't have the experience you are going to regret that. You only get one chance to get it right and I have heard of many women that have had over 20 surgeries due to doctors that will just operate over and over again with laser and you don't want that.

Please let me know if you are interested in finding an endo specialist and I can help you out :)
