My first laprascopy

I just had my first surgery almost 2 weeks ago.  It's been rough and painful.  Before and after surgery.  I was told I was the worst case they had seen in 13 years, the word they used and the pictures they showed me, horrendous.  There was so much, they couldn't get it all.  And want to discuss another surgery for me because what they couldn't get is in my bowels.  I don't want anymore surgery.  I had to already stay over night, it's been a lot of pain with me out from work for 2 weeks.  I still can't sit or walk for long still having to take all the pain medication.  My doctor told me I have to start getting pregnant as soon as my next period ends.  I'm frustrated because I literally turned 25 this week and thought I'd have more time.  But is it true that pregnancy can help to get rid of endometriosis especially such a severe case like mine?

I agree with ticked...if your Dr. could not remove it from the colon while in removing it from the other areas...she is NOT qualified to do endometriosis surgery...Please see a specialist...It's also true that they say "it's the worst I've ever seen" because they are not specialists...It does mean you need a specialist though! If you don't see a specialist now you will most likely see one in the end after multiple unsuccessful surgeries that will just weaken your pelvic floor causing many more issues...trust me...I have been there and am still there...I believe my endo is gone but I have many other issues thanks to being mismanaged by dr.s who should have sent me to a specialist!

and NO pregnancy is not the answer...if you can even get pregnant because of the endo...another sign of an unqualified dr. to treat your disease...if they tell you get pregnant, have a hysterectomy, take lupron...just take bcp...find a specialist...don't waste your, time, energy, money as well as risk your health and wellbeing! I am in this now 25+ years later because I did not see a specialist...we did not have these amazing forums when my journey began...so take the advice of those of us who have been there, done that, still dealing with the aftermath...give yourself the best chance at wellness!  Find an endometriosis specialist!

I forgot she does the surgery on Tuesdays at least a few times a month.  Getting the surgery scheduled was a month and a half wait because it gets booked fast.

My doctor is a women, she does seem very knowledgeable about this.  She doesn't didn't know I had endometriosis in the bowels until they found it.  It was high risk and I needed to be seen by another physician for that.  I live in Alaska so the population is a little smaller, that could be why I was the worst case they had seen in awhile wish I could post the pictures.  Because it was literally everywhere.  I've had it since my first period.  My mom had such a violent case of it she had to get a hysterectomy at 30.  My sister has it as well.  It looks like we might have it bad in our genes and since it goes unchecked until there's an abnormal flare up it gets out of control.  My doctor said pregnancy will not cure it, I just had my appointment komday.  The reason I have to get pregnant now is because I'm fertile now.  The pregnancy will help prolong it from coming back and releave the symptoms.  From the research and what my doctor has said and done for me.  My next steps are no more grains, take folic acid, and get pregnant after my next period.

The answer is no. Pregnancy does NOT get rid of Endo and I can tell by his comment about that and the "Worst he has seen in 13 yrs"  as well as them not being able to remove it from the bowels makes me believe he is an inexperienced surgeon when it comes to Endo. Those are the main comments that are made by doctors who need more training and understanding with this disease. So it will most likely cause you more pain as it will continue to grow.

That being said I am sorry that you are suffering right now but I am here to help you find a surgeon near you in case one day you decide that you would like to be in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing.

Feel free to reach out to me. :)

Thank you for your comment.  My gyno does appear very knowledgeable about endometriosis after all she is the one who did my surgery.  Unfortunately in Alaska we are limited on what is offered to us and there's always a wait with ridiculous expenses.  I've heard it's cheaper to fly to Seattle for stuff like this.  Anyways I am feeling better I'm not having the pain I was having just the incision pain and what have you.  But I also haven't had my period yet so I have yet to see if my pain has actually been reduced.  I see my gynecologist Monday so I definitely have a lot of questions for her.  I think the main reason she is stressing get pregnant now because I am fertile now.  That won't last and I probably have to have the procedure done again to become fertile again :/ and it has not been an enjoyable experience.  But she also believes I've had endometriosis ever since my first period. I've always had extremely painful periods, I just thought it was normal.  But I'm surprised my Mom was never suspicious since she had endometriosis and Pcos, she had to get a hysterectomy at 30 because of it.  My sister has endometriosis as well though she hasn't had the procedure to officially diagnose it her symptoms were very similar to me she's just doing better because she has an IUD.

Hi, I really feel for you as I have been put in this position myself at a similar age and although 31 now with a baby it did take us a few years and some help. I was pain free whilst pregnant and for a year afterwards but unfortunately each person is very different and pregnancy does definitely not cure endometriosis in all cases so I feel that is too big a statement for the doctors too say to you but a lot if doctors are stumped by endo soakl say the pregnancy thing as it does work for some but hasn't for me.
Have you researched specialist endo consultants local to you? I have a fantastic consultant who specialises and has changed my life completely so I would say try and find a specialist in your area as Normsl Gyno doctors unfortunately just don't seem to have the knowledge about endo. Good luck xx
