Abnormally High EBV levels

Two weeks ago I was tested for several things due to the following symptoms: fatigue and generalized lymphadenopathy that is painful and lasting for 7 weeks (at this point). The only thing I tested positive for was EBV. However, my levels were extremely high.
EBV early antigen IGG: 124 (positive is greater than 10.9)
EBV AB VCA IGG: >600 (pos is greater than 21.9)
EBV Nuclear antigen AB IGG: >600 (pos is greater than 21.9)

Basically, I have had a reactivation of this virus.
I am extremely scared and concerned because I've read that a compromised immune system causes a reactivation of EBV. In late April, I had an oral sexual encounter with a male of unknown status and I have been very anxious about HIV due to these persistent symptoms. It has been 20.5 weeks since the exposure and I have tested up to 18 weeks with 3rd generation antibody test which was negative and an oral swab Oraquick test yesterday which was negative, too. My question is what else can cause such high levels of reactivation and have any of you had EBV and had lymph nodes swell all over and be tender for so long? Any help would be appreciated.

After taking my blood test results, my doctor noticed high level of MONO%=13,1% (normal % was 3-10%) and high MXD % (MONO + EO + BZ)=15.3% (normal % was 3-10%).
After this she recommended me to take EBV IGG and IGM tests, which results i took today and i was very worried, because EBV IGG resulted positive in high level = 43,96 RU/ml, while EBV IGM resulted 5,7U/ml. Please, can anyone explain to me what does this result mean? I am new to this thing. I have researched a lot today in the internet, but i am still very confused. Somewhere it seems like a very serious condition and somewhere like something not so serious.
I would appreciate a lot if someone would just explain a little bit what do these blood test results mean. Thank you, thank you!!!

It means you have Mono. Rashes and most skin problems are from a run down immune system and being low on zinc.
Take a high-quality natural form multi vit/min, Omega 3 capsules (about 3-5/day, unless you eat old water fish that day), magnesium, a good probiotic, and eat A LOT of berries and other phytonutrients. Cut out sugars, but it is ok to eat whole organic fruits.

FWI: Fructose is not processed as a sugar (hence the low glycemic index), and the phytonutrients are needed to heal. No good holistic doctor should be telling people not to eat whole fruit, unless a fruit or berry gives them hives.
Candida is a symptom, not a cause, of a weak immune system and too many simple sugars. Almost everyone carries candida. And cancer, and EBV. Just need to keep them all under control.

I had some of your symptoms. I think you're obsessive compulsive about the HIV thing because you're worried about the exposure you might have had in Thailand. Stop it!!! you don't have HIV. You've been test a gazzillion times and the doctor keeps telling you you don't have it. For crying out loud, believe your doctor and the tests!

In late December 2015 I had a few episodes of extreme itching. I noticed it began soon after my wife had a yeast infection and through intercourse gave it to me. Or maybe, I had unknowingly given it to her. Anyway, it last a few days and I took some topical lamisil. I had a night or two of fairly difficult itching all over my body.

Then while on a trip to NYC we went out to dinner with friends and we all celebrated with desserts and I overdid it, again. When we got back to the hotel room I started itching all over. It was worse than EVER. I kept taking showers and the water could not get hot enough. Strangely it ACTUALLY felt good the hotter it got and the more violently I could itch/rub my hands and feet, and anywhere else. To say I was miserable would be a complete understatement.

I felt like the answer would have been to be totally naked and strung up by my hands and have 6 people with metal garden rakes scratching my body everywhere. I laid down on the floor and my wife walked all over my hands, arms and legs. When she stood on my hands I told her to put all her weight on one hand at a time and do the twist with one of her heals. That heal was the only point of contact so all of her 140 lbs was twisting and grinding on my hand and it was a total "scratch-gasm". It was so sick because that actually felt good. sick. She couldn't be heavy enough.

How I wished I had an Ambien so that I could have slept. zero sleep that night. We flew back to Utah but I called a doctor in my neighborhood before we took off and told him what was happening and asked him to prescribe something for a horrible yeast infection. He practically laughed and said it had nothing to do with yeast. I told him it had started after intercourse with my wife when she had a yeast infection and my penis had felt infected at that time and it just gradually got worse until this horrific night/crisis. He said, "get some Benadryl, and some topical lotion."

Accept for a previous experience I would have believe him and I would no doubt still be miserable and using hundreds of tubes of anti-itch and shampoo, etc...

But two years ago I had similar symptoms but only about 20 percent of this episode. So I knew this was related. It was a totally candida imbalance. Doctors that have been trained more than ten years ago typically are unfamiliar with the ravages of candida imbalance. According to my doctor, not my neighbor who scoffed, a great many people have it and are treated for other things because their doctors don't know that candida imbalance is the root cause of so many symptoms and illnesses. It's caused by our unhealthy and unnaturally high intake of sugars. Almost everything we eat contains high levels of sugar. A hundred years ago people ate a couple pounds of sugar per years. Now the average America consumes about 150 LBS of sugar per year.

So I went to my other doctor and sure enough that was it. She gave me 200 mg per day for 60 days of Diflucan (generic is: Fluconazole). She also put me on a strict no sugar diet. No sucrose, fructose, no bread, NOTHING with yeast what so ever, no cheese, etc.. Basically a strict palio diet without the fruit or berries. I did that for 30 days and I've been trying to avoid too much sugar since coming off. But it did the trick. Within a few days the itching was completely gone and has not returned. I hope this is helpful.

Here's a link about candida. You can find tons about it on the web: .http://www.amymyersmd.com/2015/11/10-signs-you-have-candida-overgrowth-and-what-to-do-about-it/

ESR 5 (REF: 0-15) NORMAL
HIV 1/2 RAPID IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHY NON REACTIVE .

IN THE MEANWHILE WITH  TREATMENT WITH SELENIUM SHAMPOO THE FUNGAL INFECTION IS UNDER CONTROL. BUT STILL I CAN SEE WHITE/GREY SPOTS UNDER MY SKIN ALL OVER THE BODY FROM SCALP TO TOE. ALTHOUGH MUCH BETTER MY SKIN ALL OVER THE BODY IS NOT NORMAL.

AS PER MY UNDERSTANDING EBV (NA) IS NEGATIVE AND ALSO THERE ARE NO ATYPICAL LYMPHOCYTES. SO IT RULES OUT EBV.

HTLV IS NEGATIVE AND ALSO HTLV PROLIFERATES CD4 CELLS AND NOT CD8 CELLS SO HTLV IS RULED OUT.

CAN ANY BODY LET ME KNOW IF FUNGAL INFECTION CAN CAUSE CD8 CELLS TO PROLIFERATE.

i want to add that for dyspanea i did chest X-Ray and it was normal. so the dyspanea was due to inflamation of lungs which can be due to bacterial, viral or fungal infection. but as i am not running fever it can not be due to bacterial infection.

i am still struggling with my illness. in july 2014 that is 32 months after exposure started having severe shortness of breath. i took methyle prednisolone 4 mg for 14 days and got some relief but i stopped the medicine cause it being steroid can cause severe side effects. for fungal infection i used selenium sulphide shampoo all over scalp and body. this was veey effective and now the infection is almost 90% cleared. in the meanwhile i visited Dr. tan in Singapore in december 2015 and gave him my history and test records. He was confident that it can not be HIV. I did another CBC and again it show high lymphocyte at 5680. Dr tan refered me to another infectious disease specialist and he also said that it can not be HIV. He said in his report that there is no sleenomagly, hepato megaly or any organomagly. there are no lymph nodes. so he just asked me to get igg, ige, igm, and iga done. i am not able to do this test because of non availiblity in my country. now 15 days back i again developed severe dyspanea. again i used methyle prednisolone 4 mg x 10 days and Prednisolone 5 mg for six days. i am now able to breath properly but i have developed pain in my chest and stomach. stomach pain is due to ulcer caused by prednisolone. so i have started taking ranitidine 150 x2 times daily from yesterday and feeling better. Now i am planning to go to some place where i can do ebv full panel, igg, ige, igm, iga, lymphocyte full panel, cd3%,cd4%cd8%.Htlv1/2, All and all it has to be one of the viral infection (HIV, EBV, HTLV) which is causing persistent lymphocytosis, clumping of platelets with EDTA, fungal infection from scalp to toe, severe dyspanea.

i will get back to you all after my test results.

Hi,

I'm in the the same sinking ship......going on 2 years or more, now.  I've been living on disability for too long. I want to get back to contributing to society! I am a 51 year old female living with the same man for 25 years in Orlando, FL.

EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG >600.0 High
EBV Ab VCA, IgG >600.0 High
EBV Early Antigen Ab, IgG 34.0 High
HHV 6 IgG Antibodies 8.65 High

I also have 2 reactive lyme bands, 31 and 41.

I have been to more doctors in the he last 2 years, than in my entire life.  I believe I may have chronic lyme.

Can anyone help us?????

I think you should consult with the lyme forum. I will try to transfer this message there. They are really good at this.
Try looking in a few hours. If it doesn't come you can copy and paste your response in the Lyme forum.  I think they would be more helpful.

See one more doctor,  Dr Montoya  at  Stanford Healthcare,  California  in Palo Alto.  He's in  the  Infectious Disease  clinic

Look him up on the Internet and see what you think. Be aware that it may take up to six months to get an appointment,  but you'll  be pleased, although, like most diseases  or syndromes,  it doesn't work  immediately. But it's even  good to wait for a good thing.
what are your symptoms

I am dealing with the same thing right now, my level was >600 and i don't ever remember having mono, but i do know i had walking pneumonia a year ago on christmas. I am just wondering what could cause my levels to be so high. My only real symptom is i am extremely exhausted/fatigued and have been for over a year and a half now. What was your outcome?
