Epstein Barr results on blood work - please help

I started out with headaches/dizziness stiff neck. Went to neurologist for MRI's etc, all negative. Did find a little growth on thyroid which I am having checked out. Now I feel like I have swollen glands, all over pain. My ob/gyn thought to do blood work for Epstein Barr and the results were as follows:

E.Barr VCA 516.0
E. Barr, VCA IGM <10.0
EB Early AG AB <5.0
EBNA AB (IGG) 193.0

Are these super high and do the indicate a current infection. I did have mono in high school, but I am 51 now. Also, I was on a course of prednisone from the neuro just before I started feeling these achy swollen gland feelings.

Hello, I'm not a doctor, but I'll try to answer your questions.  How high above the threshold you are doesn't really matter; what matters is that you're above it and therefore positive for EBV.  If it's any consolation, I've seen plenty of cases that were higher.  From what I can see, it looks like a recent infection; given that you previously had mono in your past, this would be an EBV re-activation.  Given what you're going through (thyroid, neuro, etc.), I think there's a good chance those things could have caused the flare-up.  Unfortunately, probably the best thing you can do to fight off EBV is get the other issues taken care of, at least as much as possible.  Concentrate on one issue at a time; yes, that can make for a slow recovery, but sometimes it's the only way to make progress.  I hope this has helped, and I wish you well in dealing with this!

I'm in disbelief your Doctor would run an EBV panel and not explain the results to you.
