Mono symptoms?

hi all,

10 days ago, i start getting fever regularly in the afternoon.  it's very mild fever, i took advil, sleep for couple hours, sweat, and i am normal.  this went on for 5 days and i decide to talk to my pcp.  my pcp prescribed me amoxicilin, he thinks it's an infection.  i took the amoxicllin for couple days but the fever persists and it's no logner just mild.  temperature can go up to 102, however, i will sweat it out then i am fine again.  7- 9 hours later, the fever will be back again.

i also noticed that i am getting some mild rash on my arms and inner thighs.  i called my pcp, he said stop using amoxicilin and go in for a blood and urine test.  my 2nd meeting with my pcp, he prescribed me azithromycin (which is a catch-all infection drug) and mortrin 600mg.  he told me to take mortrin every 8 hours to see if i can suppress the fever before it happens.

well, for the past 3 days, i am able to suppress the fever if i take mortrin every 8 hours, however, if i miss a dosage, then i will get the fever back again.

the azithromycin didn't do anything for me.

i been going thru this forum and looks like mono is what i have because of the recurring fever and rash.  i don't have the sore throat or swollen lymph nodes.

do what i desribed above sound like mono?  should i talk to my pcp and ask for a mono test?  anyone with similar symptoms?

sorry for the long post.

i asked my doctor for a monospot.  result pending.  you are right, i dont have fatigue.  i can actually work when tylenol is doing its thing.

this is frustrating, it's long weekend, so i have to wait few more days before talking to doctor again.

What you've described does sound somewhat like mono, but there are also many other infections/diseases that can cause what you've described.  Also, given that you don't have a sore throat or swollen lymph nodes (and no mention of fatigue; believe me, if you had the fatigue, you would've mentioned it!), I would lean towards something other than mono.  However, there certainly wouldn't be any harm in getting either a monospot or an EBV titers test (or both), just to rule that out for sure.  Best of luck, and please let us know what you find out!
