Can't get hard, does Cialis work?

So I'm starting Cialis 5mg a day as needed for erectile dysfunction due to side effects from Metoprolol. I've cut down my dose of Metoprolol to about 37.5mg a day. I have no lack of interest, just my penis goes soft without manual stimulation. If I stroke it, fine, but if I'm having sex, for the last year or so, since I started the meds, it will periodically go soft without constant stroking which is highly annoying.

I'm only 33 too. So planning on starting the Cialis later this week. Will it counter-act the effects of the metoprolol and allow me to get and keep a hard erection?

The doc said I could also try switching to Diltiazem a calcium channel blocker. I may do that too but I suspect that I'm going to need the Cialis anyway. I never even get spontaneous erections in the morning any more either. It's ruined my self esteem because I've been too scared to have a sex life because I know my penis won't perform in spite of me wanting to.

Does this medication really work?

That the Metoprolol caused your erectile dysfunction is a presumption and I think an incorrect one at that. I know that the text books say that beta blockers cause erectile dysfunction but in practice they very rarely do.
The most cause of your erection difficulties is performance anticipation. You are wondering if you are going to be able to get an erection and failure then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. The way around this is to take intercourse off the menu for a while.
Anyway, Cialis 10 mg will work and hopefully give you back your confidence such that you will no longer need it.
