Thank you for the reply..I dont think it was a false positive on the treadmill because when I did the nuclear and had to get back on the treadmill the same "dip" -inverted wave popped up at about 145-150 bpm again..My EF is 65% and I do have paroxsymal afib in which I take 25mg of metoprolol half in am half pm- very low dose...I dont think I have much issues with it..However, I am perplexed about the abnormal treadmill stress test( normal a year ago) and normal nuclear,,,what could this mean when abnormal treadmill is indicative of ischemia, severe blockage and BBB- which I dont think I have? I have been cleared of any blockage.. thanks.
Hi. Stress and nuclear tests are helpful for identifying areas of poor blood flow. It can also predict the risk of heart attacks and other undesirable events in the future. However, not all results are 100% specific. For example, a false positive stress test can be falsely abnormal. There are a number of reasons why this can happen (e.g. large breasts) and this phenomenon is becoming more common these days. Similarly, there are about 20% of nuclear tests that show false positive results. However, it is important that these results be justified by a CT coronary angiogram or cardiac catheterization. For further queries, consult your cardiologist. Thanks for asking.
