Need to know more about the pain, location, and cause of the pain!!
I also second the notion of swimming. It is no impact and one can use the water for resistance. If you find a warm pool such as at many gyms (often called the therapy pool)--- it could really go a long way to ease your pain. good luck
take some Tynoel if you aren't allegoric to it. Also , take Advil if not allegoric. Do you know why you might be in such bad pain?
Hi Ben:
I'm new to this particular forum, but I believe in exercise. What kind of pain do you have?
I have known quite a few folks (older) who have severe arthritis, and the best exercise for them is in a pool. You don't have to be an Olympic swimmer either...just gently walking or treading water, or even just hanging on to the side and kicking.
My husband, prior to having hip replacement surgery, had pain when doing anything with his legs, so he was using a rowing machine...
Hope this helps...if you tell me what kind of pain you're having and when, maybe I can add more...
